Three Board Members from the Vancouver Branch of the United Nations Association in Canada (UNAC) , have been awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for service to Canada. Congratulations Patsy George, Jim Siemens and Russ Leskiw.

The commemorative medal recognizes Canadians who have made significant contributions to their communities, and their country.  Patsy George received her medal at a ceremony in April 2012, presented by the Governor General to all Order of Canada recipients. Both Jim Siemens and Russ Leskiw received their medals at a ceremony on September 8, 2012 at the Ismaili Centre in Burnaby, from Senator Jaffer and Senator Martin. The service of these three individuals to their communities has been substantial over decades.

It is self-evident  that UNAC Vancouver benefits greatly from such a high calibre membership on the Board of the Association. Only with the commitment, dedication and energy of people, like these three, can the important work of bringing attention to the plights of others and recognizing those who do so, take place.
